1. RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The regatta is open to sailors participating in an Ontario Sailing School up to 18 years of
age (on the day of the regatta) and having level CANSail 1 or up.
2.2 The regatta is open to boats in the Pico and 420 classes.
2.3 Registrations are online on sailgeorgianbay.ca
3. SCHEDULE
9-9:30am Sailors arrive, rig, registration and pick up t-shirts
9:30-9:45 Skipper’s meeting
10am Launch
10:30am First signal
~Lunch On the water (supplied)
3:30pm Last signal
~Head in, de-rig, pack-up boats, prize-giving
Plan to be wrapped up by 5:30pm; thinking no start later than 3:30pm
4. REGISTRATION AND FEES
Registration is $25 per sailor for SGB members, and $50 for sailors and coaches from other
clubs. Registration is open at https://sailgeorgianbay.checklick.com/ .
5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS AND COURSES
5.1 Sailing Instructions and course maps will be given at the skippers’ briefing.
5.2 Racing will take place in Meaford Harbour or on Georgian Bay; location to be
announced at the skippers’ briefing.
6. SCORING
6.1 Scoring shall be as per RRS Appendix A.
6.2 Each sailor/team member’s series score shall be:
(a) when fewer than five races have been completed, the total of his or her race scores;
(b) when five or more races have been completed, the total of his or her race scores
excluding the worst score.
6.3 420s and Picos will be scored separately. All 420s will be scored together, and all Picos
will be scored together unless there are enough boats to split the classes into fleets of different
skill levels.
6.4 For any ties in the overall scoring, the tie shall be broken in favour of the sailor with the
most 1st place final results. Should any teams still remain tied after using the above method, the
tie shall be broken in favour of the sailor with the most 2nd place final results, and so forth, until
the tie is broken.
6.5 One (1) race will constitute a series.
6.6 Prizes shall be awarded to the top 3 boats in each class.
7.. PENALTIES
The penalty for a boat at fault for both hitting marks, and when boats meet, is a 360 (tack+gybe)
- not a 720.
